Tamale Girls & Education

Tamale Girls & Education They say " when you educate a girl, you change everything ". From my view for the last 10 years i find this quote sinking. looking at where I come from. Out of 100% of the girls in Tamale only 25% are serious. The rest are very busy with makeup, cloths, Photoshop, IPhone and rich boyfriends. I look at the number of NGO companies in Tamale ready, willing and helping young girls. yet our girls are not serious. Things are getting out of hand, even to an extent the girls video themselves smoking, drinking alcohol and intentionally post nude pictures of themselves on social media.
In June 2015, Friday 5th. I paid a visit to a primary school, luckily one of the teachers there was a friend. After the usual greetings I asked of the performance of the students, he told me they were picking up just that a girl in primary 4 is pregnant and does not even know who is responsible. So the headteacher had assigned him to help her parents find out the guys she has been hanging around with. 4 weeks ago, I met this young beautiful girl around UDS, thus the one on the Kumasi road. A friend introduced her to me and said that was her girlfriend and she is attending one of these senior high school. Just last week I happen to come across this girl picture on Facebook, the guy who posted the picture was threatening to release nudes of the girl, the comments that followed was too bad, no one said anything good about the young girl. I quite remember I was watching TV, thus Viasat 1 and they suddenly went off, so I tuned to TV3 and they were showing auditions of Ghana Most Beautiful in Tamale. The young lady was asked " what is Damba " then she replied " Damba is a dance ". I nearly had blood pressure. At night when you take a walk on the streets of Tamale, you ask yourself if the children outside at that time of the night have parents, young girls of primary and junior high, all dressed up and heading to God knows where. Some of them have the believe that when you are beautiful and charming you will definitely find a rich, handsome guy to marry you. But if you are not as beautiful or comfortable with your appearance, there is another way you can attract guys and that's by bleaching to get the perfect skin tone. Is this the lack of good parenting, or just that children of today are different and difficult to rise. Either way, our girl are the future so something needs to be done. Something must be done now.
