A Living Legend " Rocky Dawuni "

Image
Cumbancha released Dawuni's sixth album, Branches of the Same Tree, on March 31st, 2015. It promises to bring him an even wider international audience. Reflecting his maturity as an artist, the album highlights Dawuni's ability to communicate a universal, uplifting message that crosses borders and reaches out to the hearts of millions. The first single for the new album "African Thriller" is making waves around the world with the amazing dance video. While still a student, Rocky Dawuni burst onto the African reggae scene in the early 1990's as the lead singer of the Ghanaian reggae group, Local Crisis, at the Pan African Music Festival held in the West African country's capital of Accra. In their debut performance, Dawuni's mesmerizing stage presence and powerful songs secured the group hero status. “My first band was an accident,” said Rocky. “In my first year, I met these four guys who were students there and musicians. Everyone was saying, ‘Why are

STOP THE HATE REPORTING on Sarkodie,Rocky Dawuni,Wiyaala & Others

Image
what do you mean by Sarkodie's "Mary Album" launch flops in Tamale ? Why do some Ghanaian media houses have to be so negative about certain issues. There was a miscommunication between the people and the organisers, people really didn’t get the message clearly. Many thought GHc20 was only an entry fee before paying for the actual Mary album as well. Meanwhile That was not the case. The event organizers required everyone to pay GHc20 before getting to the place and even though that meant a free copy of the album and autograph signing. So why put a headline saying Sarkodie's "Mary Album" launch flops in Tamale. Is this the first time Sarkodie has been in Tamale, Sarkodie has been in Tamale on several occasions and the reception he gets is similar to that of Accra and other places. Even R2Bees who are half Northerners don't have much fans in Tamale compared to Sarkodie. So please when reporting on issues let's be cautious of the kind of headline

Bribery And Corruption In Ghana's Judiciary

Image
A latest Bribery and Corruption scandal in the Judiciary; a product of ace journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has implicated 34 judges who were caught on camera taking bribes and extorting money from litigants. Even though 12 High Court judges were named, two of them; Justice Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Mustapha and Justice Yaw Ansu-Gyeabuor have retired according to a statement from the Judicial council. The statement signed by the Judicial Secretary Justice Alex B. Poku-Acheampong, said “the attention of the president has been drawn to this fact. In view of their status as retired Justices, the two are not subject to the impeachment proceedings provided under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.“ Per the statement, the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood “in accordance with Article 146 (3) would determine whether there is a prima facie case against" the ten High Court judges mentioned below. Justice Frank Opoku Justice Charles Quist Justice Kofi Essel Mensah Justice Mu

THE BRIBED AND THE BRIBER

Image
This is so confusing, but again is it? Looking at the Law which honestly I don't understand, it clearly states that attempting to bribe or bribing is illegal. But then again if Test are not conducted as it is in science, how do we know if the citizens and the authorities really and honestly live according to the constitution. In my view Anas Tested the integrity of our judges and the results came out perfectly as imagined by many over the years. It is well known that the poor can never have justice, if the strong and powerful also needs it. As long as the takers continue to take or request to take, givers will continue to give. If the ginger seller refuse to sell, can the buyer force the ginger seller to sell. So when you sell your integrity, buyers will definitely come to purchase. And that's what exactly what Anas did, the judges sold their integrity and Anas bought them. Again to the judges who refused Anas bribe, I salute them but I hope they have the courage next

Sell More Coffee. East Africa ( Kenya )

Image
ON A hillside about an hour’s drive north of Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, is a visible demonstration of the difference between the miserable reality of smallholder farming in Africa and what it could be. On one side of the steep terraces stand verdant bushes, their stems heavy with plump coffee beans. A few feet away are sickly ones, their sparse leaves spotted with disease and streaked with yellow because of a lack of fertiliser. Millicent Wanjiku Kuria, a middle-aged widow, beams under an orange headcloth. Cash from coffee has already allowed her to buy more land and a cutting machine that prepares fodder for a dairy cow that lows softly in its thatched shed. Her bumper crops are largely a result of better farming techniques such as applying the right amount of fertiliser (two bags, not one) and pruning back old stems on her trees. Simple changes such as these can increase output by 50% per tree. Her income has increased by even more than this, because bigger berries from healthy tre

Pantless Rihanna In Puma Track Jacket & Slippers

Image
Apparently when you're Rihanna, you don't have to abide by any dress codes. The "B**ch Better Have My Money" singer showed up at Hooray Henry's nightclub in West Hollywood this weekend, wearing only an over-sized Puma track jacket and Puma slippers. Her pants were noticeably missing, though her hair and makeup were on point. The bizarre outfit may have been some sort of Puma promotion as she is the face of the athletic brand. Also clubbing that night was Rihanna's new man Travis Scott, though the two were pretty careful not to get photos together. Splash News ET broke the news that Scott and RiRi were an item earlier this month. In fact, the 27-year-old pop star showed up to three of the 23-year-old rapper's concerts in New York. "They are not exclusive, but could become that," the source told ET, adding that their relationship has been going on for less than a month. "They both are enjoying time together."

Jon Hamm Finally Cracked It " Emmy Winner "

Image
A great Hollywood injustice has finally been set right: Jon Hamm is now an Emmy winner. After a total of seven nominations (and zero wins) for playing brooding adman Don Draper on AMC’s Mad Men, Hamm finally took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series tonight for the show’s final season — and it felt like the weight of those past losses lifted right off of his shoulders once his name was announced. As the crowd gave him a well-deserved standing ovation, Hamm bypassed the stairs and heaved his body directly onto the stage, seemingly exhausted from all the media hype surrounding his final chance to win an Emmy for Men. (Can you blame him?) (And how fitting was it that he was handed the Emmy by Tina Fey, who introduced us to Hamm’s prodigious comic talents on 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt?) Hamm, who was winless in 15 previous career Emmy nominations, was humble and softspoken in his acceptance speech, saying “it’s impossible” to consider himself an acti

Africa Needs a Resilient and Climate-Smart Food System

Image
Dr. Amit Roy, president and CEO of the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), today issued the following statement as the 2014 U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit begins in Washington, D.C., and in light of this afternoon’s announcement of the joint USAID-Rockefeller Foundation Global Resilience Partnership. “Collaborative action, such as the Global Resilience Partnership announced today, is critical to achieving food security while reducing the impact of climate change in Africa. “IFDC has been active in the continent for more than 35 years, collaborating with Heads of State and other leaders to strengthen farmers’ access to fertilizer. The 2006 Africa Fertilizer Summit focused the world’s attention on the need for fertilizers to increase crop yields. The resulting Abuja Declaration for an African Green Revolution paved the way for increased food production in Africa. In addition, effective agricultural policies, public-private partnerships and new fertilizer technologies have

INFANT AND YOUNG CHILD FEEDING

Image
Undernutrition is estimated to cause 3.1 million child deaths annually or 45% of all child deaths. Infant and young child feeding is a key area to improve child survival and promote healthy growth and development. The first 2 years of a child’s life are particularly important, as optimal nutrition during this period lowers morbidity and mortality, reduces the risk of chronic disease, and fosters better development overall. Optimal breastfeeding is so critical that it could save about 800 000 under 5 child lives every year. WHO and UNICEF recommend: early initiation of breastfeeding within 1 hour of birth; exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life; and the introduction of nutritionally-adequate and safe complementary (solid) foods at 6 months together with continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond. However, many infants and children do not receive optimal feeding. For example, only about 36% of infants aged 0 to 6 months worldwide are exclusively breastfed

Hypocrisy or Ignorance ? Leave Wiyaala Alone

Image
I still don't get it, everyday we keep on criticising people who bleach their skins, on social media, home, office etc. Yet our actions, reactions, and attacks, towards dark skins is nothing but racism. So I ask, is this Hypocrisy or Ignorance? In recent times, Ghanaian ladies bleach their skins to look appealing to men and to the public. Many Ghanaian celebrities have been accused of bleaching by the public. Wiyaala is a Ghanaian Celebrity who has kept her dark and lovely skin from birth till now, she has received negative insults from fake fans and hates both on social media and public places about her looks and skin, but that has not discouraged her nor she attempting to bleach her skin. For me @Rafiu_fishbone I don't care about how beautiful or smooth your skin is, if you have a smooth soft attractive skin and tour attitude and personality is bad, then you are ugly to me. That's who you should call ugly. God created us in his own image, so who are you to judge

It's About Personality & Attitude NOT the Skin. My Wiyaala 💋❤️

For me I don't care about how beautiful or smooth your skin is, if you have a smooth soft attractive skin and tour attitude and personality is bad, then you are ugly to me. That's who you should call ugly. God created us in his own image, so who are you to judge his creation. I personally I have experience such nonsense from people I meet, mostly people who know am a fan of wiyaala make those stupid comments and I also give them a piece of my mind, which I know hurts them but since you choose to hurt my dear friend behind her back, I will also hurt you behind her back. People will always talk, when you are fat, they say you are fat, when you are slim they say you are slim, when you are fair in colour they talk, when you are black they talk. Abaaa Ghanaian female musician Wiyaala, known in real life as Noella Wiyaala, says she is not concerned about attacks on her looks. Well known for her single ‘Rock My Body’ and androgynous image, the 28-year-old musician always posses

DOES THE LAW FAVOURS THE RICH & POWERFUL ?

Image
Correct me if I am wrong but I still don't understand the Law, Some Judges take bribes and the Law enforcers do absolutely nothing, civilians go on a demonstration and Law enforcement officials beat them up. The rich takes money from the poor and they call it tax or business, the poor take money from the rich and it's called robbery. A ordinary citizens takes loan without paying on time, and he or she is been sent to prison with immediate effect, a political or public figure does same and he or she is asked to appear before a commission on enquiry. This is not fair. If the police develop the habit of beating demonstrators, then where is our democracy, if care is not taken the people will one day want to object to certain policies of a sitting government and the will beat and rip them of their rights, and thus when we will be gradually moving back to slavery, this time in the hands of our own black men. From what I saw in the news, the people demonstrating where not ho
