BATTLE OF STUDIOS...JIGWEI AWARDS
The channel was awarded a license from the National Communications Authority of the Republic of Ghana in December 2007 and started broadcasting on December 12, 2008 on 6 p.m.Viasat 1 have won almost 10 awards in the last six years making them the nations favorite television.
TV3 Network Limited (TV3 Ghana) is a private, free-to-air television broadcaster in Ghana. Launched in 1997 by Thai company BEC-TERO, TV3 Ghana airs and produces a variety of television programmes including acclaimed news bulletins, dramas and successful reality television and entertainment shows. In year 1999, it was sold to Media Prima, a Malaysian company, and then taken over by a Ghanaian company in 2011.
TV3 Ghana established itself as the most watched free-to-air television station in Ghana, having achieved 65% nationwide penetration at end-2006 and aiming to reach 90% by 2008.
However, TV3 has experienced major competition in the likes of Metro TV, VIASAT 1 TV and U TV. which has succeeded not only in broadcasting its network to all the regions in the country but it also struck a deal with South Africa's Multichoice allowing it to be broadcast throughout Africa.
So a few weeks ago, Viasat 1 announced nominations for their spoof awards, Jigwe Awards (read here) which would hold on This Morning, Tuesday, December 23. TV3’s star presenter Nana Aba Anamoah lost her cool live on television when TV3’s New Day morning show reviewed the awards. TV3 and other television stations were nominated for best copy-cut TV stations in Ghana in the Jigwe Awards and Nana Aba wasn’t happy with that. Perhaps not fully aware of the spoof nature of the awards, she went in hard on Viasat 1 referring to their studio as ‘kontomire farm’. She was however calmed down a bit by her co-hosts Sandra Ankobiah and Benny Blanco, who appeared to be more aware of the spoof intended than Nana Aba was...
These two stations have been absolutely wonderful over these years.when it comes to programes:
VIASAT 1 has CSI NEW YORK, TV3 has BOSTON LEGAL.
VIASAT 1 has CSI MIAMI, TV3 has BURN NOTICE.
VIASAT 1 has AMERICAN NEXT TOP MODEL, TV3 has THE TRISHA SHOW.
VIASAT 1 had WOMAN OF STEAL, TV3 had CHOTI BAWU..
VIASAT 1 had STORM OVER PARADISE, TV3 has PRIYA
VIASAT 1 has TINSEL, TV3 has MAD IN CARTAGENA..
So it does not matter where they sit to do their show/programes, what matters most is that:
DO VIEWERS/THE GHANAIAN PUBLIC ENJOY THEIR PROGRAMES ..
DO THEY HAVE EDUCATIVE AND ENTERTAINING PROGRAMES
DO THEY MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE BROADCASTING INDUSTRY and HAVE THEY WON OR GAIN ANY RECOGNITION OVER THESE YEARS....
let us not over use our self esteem for the future is uncertain. As human being of sound mind lets make enquiris into matter before we react to those matters because these same reacton can be our rising point or falling point. am just a village boy from the northern region, i know nothing about TELEVISION PRODUCTION but i must speak my mind for what is in my mind is more interesting than what i see outside..
MARRY CHRISMASS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
