Saved Are Those Judges Who Refused Anas Money & Goats

Image
Anas " My aim in doing undercover journalism is to name, shame and jail. In our part of the world, sometimes simply gathering information is not enough, you need to back it up with hard core evidence and this is what I do. Your encouragement and acknowledgement of my work makes it easier for me to wake up every day and continue with this crusade". "As a person, I strongly believe that extreme remedies are the most appropriate for extreme diseases. Not everybody gets happy with what I do. In the face of all the threats and problems, I remain committed. I belong to the remedy". The latest corruption exposé by investigative journalist Anas Arimeyaw Anas in Ghana’s judiciary, has sent overwhelming anxiety and fear among some of the country’s top judges. A yet-to-be released video points fingers at very notable judges who have been involved in high profile cases in the country. A total of 34 judges were caught on camera receiving bribes while others were involved ...

Water, Health and Education in Ghana

Image
Access to clean water is a major problem facing many Africa countries, figures from the world health organization states that 783 million people in sub Saharan Africa don’t have access to clean water. In Ghana, women are children do most of the house work. They clean, cook, wash and a lot more. And to do all these works, they need water. UNICEF, CAMFED and WATERAID have indicated that many girls of school going age absent themselves from school due to the lack of access to water. Others will have to walk miles from home to get clean water to bath before coming to school, which leads to lateness and less concentration in class, because they get tired and sleep while class goes on. People who do not have access to clean water are exposed to water related diseases such as Cholera, guinea worm disease, lead poisoning, Diarrhoea, bilharzia, and fever. According to the world health organization and UNICEF, 1.8 Million people die every year from diarrhea and cholera. 90% of the 1.8 mi...

TAMPER JUSTICE WITH MERCY? What About These Innocent Souls

Image
No soul is above the law, everyone is equal before the law, when the big men and women make mistakes that can cause chaos or even take the lives of others, some religious leaders come out to say " Temper Justice With Mercy " but when a poor man or woman make similar mistakes they throw them into punishment without taking a closer second look. If they should temper justice with mercy, then all the cases these judges sat should be be reviewed, who knows they have convicted innocent people, who probably are still in jail or died in jail. Sinners will be Dragged: "Truly, the criminals are in error and madness. The Day they will be dragged through the Fire on their faces, [they will hear], 'Taste the touch of Hell.'" [al Qamar, 54: 47-48] Revelation 21:8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which...

Lack of water, hygiene, & sanitation for 2.4 billion people

Image
The findings in this first multi-country review of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in health care facilities are sobering. Drawing on data from 54 low- and middle-income countries, the report concludes that 38% lack access to even rudimentary levels of water, 19% lack sanitation and 35% do not have water and soap for handwashing. When a higher level of service is factored in, the situation deteriorates significantly. Today I spoke to Dr Ayongo Annan, a specialist in family medicine at the Korle bu Teaching hospital in Accra, she confirmed that diarrhoea cases have been on their records often, cholera on the other hand she said comes as an outbreak yearly. Dr Ayongo Annan said the situation of access to clean water in Ghana has been better than before, she stressed much on sanitation and hygiene which she said needs to be improved. She advised that washing hands with soap and water is the best, and personal hygiene is the key to good healthy life. A number of areas ...

Sanitation and Hygiene In East Africa

Image
School Hygiene and Sanitation Education is becoming an area of focus as far as promotion of hygiene and sanitation activities are concerned. The increasing attention follows the fact that substantial learning time is wasted if the rate of absenteeism from common preventable diseases such as diarrhoea is very high. A safe environment in schools influences children’s health and wellbeing. Water and sanitation facilities are increasingly recognized as fundamental for promoting appropriate hygiene behaviour and children’s wellbeing. However, many schools experience unsanitary conditions that vary from inappropriate and inadequate sanitary facilities to the outright lack of latrines and safe water for drinking and support to hygiene promotion. Provision of adequate water and sanitation facilities coupled with proper hygiene in schools are essential for: Enhancing effective learning Attracting enrolment in schools, particularly girls Sustaining a reduced burden of disease and worm ...

Toilets and Sanitation

Image
Lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation traps people in poverty. Their health suffers and the prospect of developing economically remains far out of reach. Here are some of the hard facts: It’s out of order! 1 in 3 people across the world don’t have somewhere safe to go to the toilet. Bad sanitation is one of the world’s biggest killers: it hits women, children, old and sick people hardest. Every minute, three children under the age of five die because of dirty water and poor sanitation. And, right this minute, around half the people in the world have an illness caused by bad sanitation. In Africa, half of young girls who drop out of school do so because they need to collect water – often from many miles away – or because the school hasn’t got separate toilets for boys and girls. Not having a loo puts people at risk of being bitten by snakes as they squat in the grass and makes women and girls a target for sexual assault as they go to the toilet in the open. In 2000, 1...

Poor Rains In Northern and Middle Belts of Ghana

Image
Farmers in the Brong Ahafo Region are warning of imminent food scarcity in the country due to poor rains this year. True to the predictions of the Ghana Meteorological Agency at the start of the year, rainfall has been low in the northern and middle belts of the country compared to previous years. The farmers say this has caused them huge losses, leaving a lot of them in heavy debt. President of the Farmers Organisation Network, David Amoah, told Joy news areas in the Brong Ahafo Region including Techiman, Nkoranza, Atebubu and Sene have been badly affected. Cassava, yam and maize are some of the major crops grown there to feed other parts of the country. “This year, the rains have disappointed us. And if care is not taken, Ghana will be in food deficit….these are the food basket areas,” Mr. Amoah told Joy news’ Joseph Opoku Gakpo. Gladys Serwaa Adusei, a cashew, cassava and yam farmer in Techiman said she sank thousands of Ghana cedis into the preparation of land and planting of se...

Water and Sanitation

Image
The links between a lack of water and sanitation access and development goals are clear, and the solutions to the problem are known and cost-effective. The Challenge Unclean water and a lack of basic sanitation are undermining efforts to end extreme poverty and disease in the world’s poorest countries. Sub-Saharan Africa faces some of the biggest challenges: 358 million people in the region lacked access to clean water and nearly 600 million lacked access to proper sanitation facilities. 82% of those who lack access to improved water live in rural areas, while just 18% live in urban areas. Together, unclean water and poor sanitation are a leading cause of child mortality. An estimated 1,553 children die every day from diarrhoea, spread through poor sanitation and hygiene. Women are more than twice as likely as men to be responsible for water collection. On average, women and girls in developing countries walk six kilometres each day to collect water – time which could be spent in s...

KIM DAVIS Jailed 6 days For Living According to her Christian Faith

Image
l candidate Mike Huckabee said on "Hannity" tonight that the incarceration of Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis, who was imprisoned for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, signals the beginning of a slippery slope of Christianity being "criminalized." Huckabee told Sean Hannity that our freedoms of religion and speech are on a collision course with changing cultural norms. "When an unelected judge puts an elected official in jail for doing the job that she has, which is following the only law that she has in front of her, it’s interesting to me that she’s incarcerated without bail," Huckabee said. "I’ll tell you what’s coming, Sean. Next it’s going to be your pastor, the head of your Christian school. Who else is going to go to jail before this is over?" Huckabee wondered. "This is long from over. We have to stand up for what's right, what's free and what's constitutional." Kim Davis, the Rowan County ...

The Judge, The Judged, The Lawyer and The Law.

Image
The bible say "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." 22:17 Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians (can mean certain ancient religion or people with no specific religion), Christians, Magians, and Polytheists,- God will judge between them on the Day of Judgment: for God (alone) is witness of all things. Believing in an involved, morally active God makes people less likely to punish others for rule-breaking, new research finds. However, the researchers also find that religious belief in general makes people more likely to punish wrongdoers – probably because such punishment is a way to strengthen the community as a whole. In other words, religion may introduce two conflicting impulses: Punish others for their transgressions, or leave it to the Lord. Punishment is good for the community as a deterrent to criminals, cheats and lia...

September To Remember, " Anas Film Premiere At AICC "

Image
Anas Arimeyaw Anas is Ghanaian undercover investigative journalist. " Due to my work, I am anonymous and my anonymity is in fact an important tool in my investigations. My undercover investigations focus primarily on issues of human rights abuse (especially child abuses) and corruption. I have carried out undercover investigations in many countries and in different continents. My primary focus remains in Sub Saharan Africa. My human right investigations deals with creating a better life and providing equal opportunities for children and adults being abused to grow whilst my corruption investigations focus on Government employees and executives who instead of working for the people rather loot the national kitty and thus deprive citizens of essential amenities that would create a better standard of living for them". Says Anas Anan " My aim in doing undercover journalism is to name, shame and jail. In our part of the world, sometimes simply gathering information is not...

Access To Clean Water In Primary Schools

Image
Poor access to water and sanitation facilities, and unsafe hygiene practices are the main causes of diarrhoea, one of the biggest child killers in the world. Without addressing the problems in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), children's rights to an adequate standard of living and the highest attainable standard of health, as enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), can never be entirely fulfilled. Because of this, WASH is regarded as a central component of the millennium development agenda. Progress in this area is closely related to that of child mortality, primary education, and poverty eradication Today I made a stop at Padmore preparatory school, which is located in Accra East Legon, Mpehuasem. After exchanging greetings with the staff and Headmaster. We spoke about access to clean water, and the challenges the school and other schools face in accessing clean water. Mr Azia Albert, headmaster of Padmore Preparatory School told me, there is a littl...

Diabetes

Image
Detecting diabetes early is essential to starting a person on the path to better health. Many of the signs and symptoms of type 1 diabetes are the same as type 2 diabetes even though the reasons the person develops the diabetes are different. This is due to the ultimate effect of having extra glucose or sugar in the blood stream. Both type one and type 2 diabetes can be diagnosed in all age groups. Type 1 diabetes is usually detected in children and young adults and type 2 diabetesusually is diagnosed at an older age. (1) This essay is to help you understand the signs and symptoms of diabetes and why they occur. As mentioned above, many of the signs and symptoms of type 1 and type 2 diabetes are the same but it is relevant to itemize them in two separate lists. Some of the entries will be duplicated due to the effect of extra glucose in the blood steam. In type 1 diabetes, in some people, extremely life threatening symptoms may be detected very early. This is due to the fact that it...

Hunger Is Also A Killer

Image
There are over 700 malnourished people in the world today. According to the World Food Programme, the world produces enough food to feed seven billion of the entire global population and still, one in nine people goes to bed hungry. The Global Hunger Index, which is a tool to calculate countries' hunger, is updated once a year. The data for the year 2014 was calculated for 120 countries out of which Burundi's hunger situation has been put in the "extremely alarming" category. Here is a list of the hungriest countries in the world according to the Global Hunger Index: Burundi According to the reports of Global Hunger Index, Burundi is the hungriest place on earth. It is said that wars, poverty and overpopulation has left the country with shortage of food. The country which has witnessed a total of 15 years of Civil war, which ended in 2005, left the land unused for a long period of time. Floods, hailstorms, drought and torrential rain are recurrent in Burundi. ...

The OmniProcessor

Image
EARLY JANUARY, a video clip featuring Bill Gates started making the rounds on the Internet. But he wasn’t delivering one of his inspiring speeches about vaccines or getting drenched in ice water to raise awareness about ALS. He was just drinking a glass of water. Sounds boring, right? The catch: five minutes before Gates took his first sip, that water had been human waste pumped in from a local sewage facility. That’s right: Bill Gates drank poop water to entertain an audience on the Internet. Well, sort of. Gates was using the apparent publicity stunt to unveil the OmniProcessor—a low-cost waste treatment plant that combines a steam power plant, an incinerator, and a water filtration system into a machine capable of converting 14 tons of sewage into potable water and electricity each day. I’ve tried the water myself; not only is it drinkable, it’s actually indistinguishable from tap water or bottled water. The contraption, about the size of two school buses placed side by side, w...

Blame NOT the Arabs, nor ISLAM but Power seekers & Evil doers

Image
The image of a 3-year-old drowned boy, Aylan Kurdi, lying face down on a beach had a huge symbolic effect on Europe. It has affected it more than the greater tragedies of over 2,500 refugees of all ages who died or went missing trying to get to Europe, or the 71 people, including four children, who suffocated in a truck in Austria. Personally I am not going to pin this on the Arab countries, let's first ask ourselves why they are fighting? who are those fighting for power? Many knew that the end result was going to be like this, yet none of these so called officials had the heart nor brains to evacuate the children and women out of the country. This is not going to be the first time the so called good ones are going to evacuate women and children, we have been seeing this in movies and real life. Almost 4 million people have fled Syria since the start of the conflict, most of them women and children. It is one of the largest refugee exoduses in recent history. Neighbouring co...
