George Brigars Williams Born on 8th January, 1929 in Sekondi. He attended Adisadel College in Cape Coast and then to the Balham & Tooting College of Commerce and also studied Acting at The Stage Craft Centre all in London, U.K. He performed in Julian Green’s South at the London’s Arts Theatre, soon after he joined the musical ballet Carribean Heatwave with Shirley Bassey as the lead singer and Ben Johnson as the lead dancer opening at the Little Theatre in Jersey. After a series of programmes on the BBC West African Service, he made several recordings with great jazz musicians in England such as Hurry Cline, Mike Makenzie, Shake Kean and Joe Harriot. In 1956 George B. Williams produced a pageant that featured five hundred dancers from all the regions of Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium, as part of the Independence anniversary celebration of Ghana. Gushegu District Hospital Record's One Maternal death IN 2015

The Acting Medical Superintendent of the Gushegu District Hospital, Dr Barihama Adam has disclosed that the hospital is working hard to ensure they record a zero percent maternal mortality rate by 2017.  According to him, the hospital recorded seven maternal deaths in 2012 but worked hard to reduce it to one death last year. Dr Adam disclosed this at an open day celebration held by the hospital to highlight the successes, challenges and projections of the hospital. Speaking to Justice News Dr Adam said they have been able to achieve the reduction because of the measures they have put in place to deal with emergency cases they receive. He catalogued the measures as stocking the blood bank with blood to deal with emergency cases during labour, a ready theater to handle complications, a standby team to deal with complications among others. Government has decided to foot the medical bills of Dr. David Abdulai, a medical doctor battling with thyroid cancer. Dr. David Abdulai has over the years dedicated his life to serving the poor in the Northern Region.  He runs 2 free health clinics in the region and serves a variety of populations including the mentally ill, HIV positive, homeless among others. In May this year, Dr Abdulai was diagnosed with stage-4 thyroid cancer which is reportedly quite aggressive and spreading.   Reports indicated that the doctor was in dire need of radiation therapy, which is not offered in Tamale. But a post from the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe today indicated that “the President directed the Ghana Air Force to evacuate Dr Abdulai to Accra three days ago and he is currently receiving the care.

Dr. David Abdulai is an amazing doctor who has dedicated his life to serving the poor. He runs 2 free health clinics in the Northern Region and serves a variety of populations including the mentally ill, HIV positive, homeless, etc. He is the only survivor of 11 children (all of whom died from po verty related illnesses) and had the opportunity to be educated; eventually finishing medical school with the assistance of the Catholic Church.  Dr. David Abdulai won the 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Peace and Social Justice,     Dr. David Abdulai, is also a winner of Airtel’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiative “Touching Lives” and other awards and recognitions world wide.   Although he initially worked in government hospitals, he always realized the great need to return home to Tamale and provide medical assistance to the poor.
