Dr Ayongo Annan, a specialist in family medicine at the Korle bu Teaching hospital in Accra, confirmed that diarrhoea cases have been on their records often, cholera on the other hand she said comes as an outbreak yearly. Dr Annan said the situation of access to clean water in Ghana has been better than before, she stressed much on sanitation and hygiene, which she said needs to be improved. She advised that washing hands with soap and water is the best, and personal hygiene is the key to good healthy life. Hygienic sanitation facilities are crucial for public health. Since 1990, the number of people gaining access to improved sanitation has risen from 54% to 68% but some 2.4 billion people still do not have toilets or covered latrines. A group of young hard working youth in the tamale metropolis are organising a #Cleantolive campaign coming this national sanitation day, Shamsia Baba Dua a student at the Nalerigu Nursing Training college came up with the idea and informed Some close friends to help with the awareness creation. Currently the volunteers involve a lot of dedication Nursing Training students, Nurses, Teachers, Radio personalities in the Tamale metropolis, students from various tertiary institutions and many more. The organisers of the #Cleantolive campaign have invited the general public in the metropolis to join them come this September 21 at the Tamale Central, the exercise will begin at 6am and end at 10am. The acronym “WASH” stands for water, sanitation, and hygiene. These basic necessities of life are not available to many people in developing countries all around the world. In fact, 748 million people do not have access to clean, safe drinking water and 2.5 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation. An estimated 50 percent of undernutrition is due to inadequate water and sanitation. Malnutrition and diarrheal disease are closely linked. When it does not kill, repeated bouts of early childhood diarrhea can negatively affect physical and cognitive development.4 Reductions in diarrheal disease, which could be achieved by providing improved sanitation and water supply, can prevent long-term morbidity and at least 860,000 child deaths a year caused by undernutrition. Naana Hawah joined the WASH, thus Water, Sanitation and Hygiene campaign when she volunteered to feature in Rafiu Fish short film series Water and Culture. the short film series also features two junior high school students, Radia and Mardia. Since then the three girls have taken the path with Rafiu Fishbone to campaign for Wash. Ahmed Soultan is a Moroccan singer artist,considered as one of the leaders of the "Nayda".(new urban Moroccan scene). Often called the OSNI (Objet Sonore Non Identifié),which could be translated "USO",for "Unknown Sounding Object",for his very particular style. Noella Wiyaala was born in Wa, Upper West Ghana as one of four sisters and raised in Tumu. Her surname, which she picked for a stage name, means "the doer" in her native Sisaala language.
