DI MARIA, ROJO AND CHICHARITO TO JOIN TOUR

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo and Javier Hernandez will fly out to join the pre-season tour on 25 July – but expects goalkeeper Victor Valdes to leave the club.

Di Maria, Rojo and Hernandez were absent from the squad that travelled to the United States after being given extra time off following their international commitments with Argentina and Mexico respectively, while goalkeeper Valdes was not selected and remained in Manchester.

Chicharito spent last season on loan at Real Madrid and, at a press conference in Seattle, van Gaal explained his reasons for that move.
"At the time we had to decide which strikers we could have," the boss said. "We had: [Danny] Welbeck, Chicharito, [Robin] van Persie and [James] Wilson. Then I had to make a decision to let Welbeck and Chicharito go. We had also bought Falcao.
"So when you play a system with one or two strikers you can have too many strikers. You have to make decisions. One of those decisions was to let go Chicharito. But now he's coming back on 25 July."
Van Gaal was asked whether Di Maria, who played a key role in Argentina’s run to the Copa America final, would be staying with the Reds for the 2015/16 season.
"We shall see," the Dutchman said. "In football it's a process and I have said that many times. It's not clear in one day. It's a process for Di Maria, for United and we shall see.
"For now he's still a member of United and he has told me he shall come on 25 July."
