AFRICAN DOCTOR HONOURED IN RUSSIA

A Nigerian doctor has been fêted by the federal government in recognition of his astounding Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0, a near-impossible feat, at a Russian university in 2013. Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Education on Wednesday honoured Dr Victor Olalusi, a young medical doctor who scored a GPA of 5.0 to graduate at the Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU).
Olalusi, who studied in Moscow under the Russia-Nigeria Bilateral Education Agreement, was the top performer in medical studies in the entire Russian Federation that year, reports Entertainment Express. The young Nigerian doctor is reportedly not new to academic grandeur. Indeed, Dr MacJohn Nwaobiala, the Permanent Secretary in the education ministry said many Nigerian students are brilliant but Olalusi was a genius. According to the report, some of his achievements are: The best WAEC result in 2004. First Class Architecture (FUTA) in 2005. JAMB Best Science Student (JAMB score 322) – 2006, Cowbell Prize Award – 2006. Medicine First Merit list (OAU) in 2006. Highest OAU Post UME (score – 325) – 2006. “We have to search the Guinness Book of Records for anybody who has achieved 5.0 in a university. It is curious and strange that all those that evaluated his performance could not find reason to reduce a point from him,” said Dr Nwaobiala. Olalusi is currently undergoing the one year compulsory National Youth Service scheme in Rivers State.
