The " NAYDA " Ahmed Soultan & The" DOER " Wiyaala

Ahmed Soultan is a Moroccan singer artist,considered as one of the leaders of the "Nayda".(new urban Moroccan scene). Often called the OSNI (Objet Sonore Non Identifié),which could be translated "USO",for "Unknown Sounding Object",for his very particular style. Noella Wiyaala was born in Wa, Upper West Ghana as one of four sisters and raised in Tumu. Her surname, which she picked for a stage name, means "the doer" in her native Sisaala language. Her music style has been described as Afro-pop[ or Afro-rock with elements of tribal folk music.
Ahmed Soultan reveals himself as the precursor of a new style he likes to name : the Afrobian Soul, for Afro-Arabian. His album Tolerance was given wide media coverage, so Ahmed Soultan soon became one of the figureheads of the "Nayda", the new Moroccan scene. After a second album, released in 2009, in which he asserts himself, his popularity in and over the Maghreb was confirmed. Singing in four languages ( Amazigh, Arabic, English and French), Wiyaala is a brand ambassador for PepsiCo in West Africa, alongside Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, promoting Pepsi throughout Ghana as the brand looks to grab a larger share of the soft drinks market.She is also the Converse All Stars ambassador for Ghana since 2014.
In 2011, for the "Radiowaves Project" Ahmed Soultan was featured on "People Power" a song produced by Anthony Tidd (The Roots, Talib Kweli) alongside Talib Kweli, Angélique Kidjo, Zap Mama, and Freshlyground to fight climate change in Africa and the world in general. Wiyaala At a very young age, Wiyaala attracted attention as an entertainer, artist and athlete to advocate for women’s rights in her native Ghana. Her love for her Ghanaian upbringing is reflected in her beautiful and powerful ballads. Her messages of positivity have made her an icon and inspiration for young Ghanaians. Her mission is on of love, peace, and celebration. Ahmed Soultan took part in many international musical events, including the Kora Awards in South Africa, the opening of a Tiken Jah Fakoli concert in Dakar, his contribution to the People Power song (beside Talib Kweli, Angelique Kidjo or Zap Mama ), Fez's Sacred Musics Festival, Marrakech's Moonfest, Casablanca Music Festival and many other European scenes (Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris)
Wiyaala is known to criticize the male-dominated culture and polygyny of some African countries and to stand up for women's rights and against family violence in her native Ghana. Her song "Tinambayai" in Sisaala language has been regarded as a protest against the exploitation of women in Africa. Wiyaala has expressed sympathy for feminism as a mean to encourage young girls into completing their education. "Make Me Dance" has been included in the top of feminist songs for the 2013 winter by Bitch feminist magazine. Ahmed Soultan became involved in various projects : he wrote the original soundtrack of Rhimou, a successful sitcom broadcast in Morocco and more ; he collaborated with the famous American singer Ne-Yo, on a song called "Amazing You" . During the first edition of the All Africa Music Awards held on 27 December 2014 in Lagos, Wiyaala won two of the coveted 23.9-carat gold-plated trophies for "The Most Promising Artist in Africa" and "The Revelation of the African Continent". She has been commended by Vodafone for her achievements and hailed as a youth icon and an inspiration for young Ghanaians to strive for success.
The stage name "Soultan" is inspired from "soul" With the success of his first single "Ya Salam", in 2011, his song "Jokko" was nominated as best North African song and best African reggae song of the year. Still largely supported by the media, in Africa and the Arab World, his singles "Ya Salam " and "Koula Lila" accompanied the opening of MTV Arabia and were regularly played on Maghreb channels “This Is Who I Am” is the first single from Ahmed’s upcoming album MHNB (Music Has No Boundaries), which will be released at the end of May and features collaborations with world famous musicians Femi Kuti, George Clinton, Fred Wesley, Akala and Tekitha. “This Is Who I Am”, described by the Moroccan star as “AfroBian” in style, is a fusion of both Afro and Arabian rhythms and features four languages, English, French, Arabic and Wiyaala’s own Sissala dialect. “This Is Who I Am” was recorded at the Studio Hiba in Casablanca and is currently available as an audio and video through Youtube. "This is who I am" has Been nominated for this years Afrima Awards.
