KING HASSAN, " Northern Musicians Lack Self Confidence "
Born Hassan Ibrahim Abubakar, on 24th November 1990 at Akurem a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. Hassan attended an Islamic School call Nasru-Deen Islamic School which is in Kumasi, that's his primary and JSS level. He then proceeded to Kings College also in Kumasi which after he went and studied journalism. Becoming a journalist was an ambition i had when i was in primary six and since then i started following it to make sure that i achieve it, Hassan said.
" It was tough though but i had be stalwart to what i had realised i wanted to become. I had several reasons and challenges which should have subdued my desire of that proffesion which include friends and situations. " when asked why he choose to be a DJ, Hassan replied " well being a dj in the media doesn't discriminate and perharps, every person with his/her dream. My dream was to be a media person but used the advantage i had when i was studying journalism.
". He continued " i went to do dj but my lecturers saw that i was really doing very well and advised me to study all the programs being run in media. I then heed to their advise. Hassan went further to lecture his colleagues. Now Hassan can run almost every program on radio but still insist he is still learning because he has mentors and senior broadcasters at his current work place, which is justice fm in Tamale, Ghana .
Hassan said " the showbiz in Tamale is quite and i wouldnt say that it is bad neither the industry is bad. but what i have made out is that, most of the artist i here in the North don't really believe in themselves. They lack self confidence . They do very well. Managements is also a serious problem in showbiz here in Tamale. Tamale has young talented and gifted persons and if they work on their confidence, the sky will be their limit.
