Rafiu Fishbone Says DKB was Right. Creative Arts Not A Joke!
In addressing the state of the nation, Ghana's beloved president, who is well respected for his communication skills forgot to address the state of the creative arts industry in the country. The King of Comedy in Ghana DKB, took to his Twitter account share his disappointment in the president failure to address the state of creative arts in Ghana.
I strongly support DKB views and comments because creative arts in growing faster each and everyday in Ghana. To my surprise, the president was even wearing a traditional outfit, with designs, please don't tell me the designs wasn't an art of creative. Aside from football, creative arts is raising the flag of Ghana higher and higher.
The likes of Ajeezay, Fosterromunus, Khemikal, are rebranding the creative arts industry in Ghana. Now we are even in the election year, many of these political parties will definitely seek the presence and knowledge of people in the creative arts industry to design campaign adverts, social media gags and paintings.
Ghanaian music is going global, with the likes of Sarkodie whom I have recently heard is going to speak at Harvard University. Manifest, Stonebwoy, Rocky Dawuni, Wiyaala, Wan luv de kubolor, Becca and many many others. So is the president trying to tell me that he has not seen all these efforts made by these brilliant individuals. They are not generating income for the country, are they not establishing foreign relations among other countries. So the president has no excuse to say he hasn't seen al these. Let's be honest to one another.
Just recently Ghanaian-born New York artist Dennis Owusu-Ansah got to work reimagining black artists and celebrities with traditional African names and dress and posted the results online, and the work is nothing less than stunning. It was featured on CNN and other global news networks for his creative idea in painting American super stars in African Traditional wears. There are hundreds of young men and women out there doing amazing creative arts works, they need acknowledgement, they need attention, they need support but it seems none of our governments have really paid attention to these creative artistic people in Ghana.
In conclusion, I strongly suggest the president should apologise to the creative arts industry for now acknowledging them in his state of nation address, else we won't film, direct, design, or script any Tv or Radio commercial for him this campaign season. It's high time we get the respect we deserve in this country.
