Ofie Kodjoe Starring in Shirley New TV Series " Shampaign "
Ofie Kodjoe is a Ghanaian Jazz, Neo soul, R&B,Gospel singer and MTN Hitmaker reality show judge, born in New York. Kodjoe has been performing around the world for the past thirty years and has performed on such shows as BET’s “Walk of Fame” and “Celebration of Gospel”. Also She has had the honor of performing for the Otomfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for President Sirleaf-Johnson of Liberia and Parliamentary audiences in Ghana and Nigeria. Ofie Kodjoe is also a member of the grand jury of the Golden Movie Awards.
When I heard and saw Auntie Ofie post on social media being part of the cast of Award winning Director and CEO of Sparrow Productions Shirley Frimpong-Manso TV Series Titled "Shampaign " was definitely part my highlights of March 2016. Auntie Ofie Kodjoe is playing Mrs Hyde the mother of Priscilla Peters played by Zenell Zu. Auntie Ofie Kodjoe character is at the centre of a daughter mother scandal. My friend Tengue Edem who is part of the crew told me that " Shampaign Series" is full of scandals, and i will realise it when you have the chance to watch it. The series also Starred the likes of MARIAN ADDO plays ASHIOKOR , MIKEY ELIAS ASHKAR plays JASON WILLIAMS, KINGSLEY YAMOAH plays GEORGE SARPONG, MIRIAM AMA SAAKA plays AKU BROWN, AKOFA EDJEANI plays MENAYE QUANSAH, JOT AGYEMANG, who we see as PRESIDENT HENRY KOFI MALM, TINNEL DICKENS plays the tough feminist MP, RED KANEBI plays Donald Arthur, JOHN DUMELO plays as he plays JONAS VANDERPUIJE, FRED AMUGI, who plays ANKRAH and Naana AKUA Quansah. Mother of one, soft and yet tough and possibly Ghana's first female President.
Shirley Frimpong-Manso is a Ghanaian film director, writer, and producer. She is the founder and CEO of Sparrow Productions, a film, television and advertising production company. She won Best Director at the 6th Africa Movie Academy Awards. Shirley Frimpong-Manso was ranked the 48th most influential person in Ghana, in the year 2013.
Shirley seeks to raise the standard of film production in Ghana and Africa by telling progressive African stories as seen through the eyes of Africans. Her films are also known for their "fierce female leads,"as they portray African women with agency who can be breadwinners and lead complex lives.
Auntie Ofie Kodjoe has been living her passion as a performing artist in Accra for the past five years and has made quite an impact on the Ghanaian music scene for the past three years, performing at Joe’s Bar at the Oak Plaza Hotel, Smollensky’s Rooftop Bar & Grill, +233 Jazz Bar, Taverna Tropicana, Sweeties Night Club, and has made special appearances at Starbites, The Jazz Lounge at Alisa Hotel, Alliance Francaise, Republic Bar and Grill and multiple corporate and private events.
Ofie Kodjoe has also participated as mediator and facilitator in the High Vibes Women Music Workshop in October 2012. She’s also participated in the Global Music Icons Workshop, which took place this past March, where she delivered a seminar on artiste development, branding and management and The TedX SPintex Women's Event in Accra in December 2013. Ms. Kodjoe, along with other key women in entertainment and media, has been honored during the Ivana Elle Coutoure Fashion Celebrations in December 2010 and December 2011, for her accomplishments in music and entertainment, for her work on social issues and for being a positive role model in the world today
Ofie Kodjoe is also an advocate on behalf of a number of social causes, namely the Sophie’s Voice Foundation (SVF), a charitable organization established in 2008 to assist families of children struggling with spina bifida and other neural tube defects; and Basics International, an organization based in Chorkor, Accra, that is committed to eradicating child slavery and promoting literacy and education among the under-privileged youth in this low-income area of Accra. She also participated in ‘Love Your World 5000’, a concert presented by PlanitGhana, which raised funds for autism awareness, education and support of The Autism Awareness Care and Training Centre in Ghana. And lately Be A Girl, a World Youth Summit Award 2014 shortlisted girls empowerment project from Ghana.
