Yvonne Okoro " Water for the Women and Children of Wungu "

Women in sub-Saharan Africa collectively spend about 40 billion hours a year collecting water. Water scarcity encourages people to transport water long distances and store supplies in their homes. This can increase the risk of household water contamination, causing Malaria, diarrhoea malnutrition as well as trachoma (an eye infection that can lead to blindness) and other illnesses, and has caused more than three million deaths since 2005, one third of these deaths are in Africa. it reduces women’s participation in income-generating activities and education, further limiting opportunities for gender equality
She is always on top of her game, aside from being the prettiest actress in Ghana, she is everything I always hope to see in a celebrity. Unfortunately I have never met her or see her off screen Yvonne Okoro views and opinions are always solid from my point of view, more over she is naturally comical. I remember the times I used to chat with her on Twitter, she relates to everyone regardless of your geographical area or ethnicity. When I heard the award-winning screen goddess is providing a borehole for the Wungu community in Walewale, following scarcity of water in the vicinity, I was not surprised, but how she managed to know about this community in the northern region was a surprise. Yvonne Okoro God bless the beautiful soul living inside you. I remember taking a picture with me holding a copy of her hilarious film " Contract "
The Popular actress of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent Yvonne Okoro has gone to the aid of the people of Wungu in Walewale of the Northern region. As part of her annual charity exercise, the Ghana Movie Awards Best Actress 2010 said she was touched by the plight of the people of Wungu, especially the situation of the women and children. “It’s quite a touching story,” Okoro told Starrfmonline.com ahead of the commissioning Friday, April 8, 2016. “The women and children go through stress due to the unavailability of potable water.” She noted that she finds a lot of “joy in giving to the needy in society” because “the small things that we do go a long way to change a lot in people’s lives.
“Every year I set aside a percentage of what I earn and use it to thank God for how far he has brought me. We need to appreciate and be content with what we have because the condition of others is worse. I wish I can do more, and I’ll like to take this opportunity to call on others including organisations and the business community to come to the aid of the poor,” Okoro, who has starred in several movies including The Game and the President’s Daughter opined.
She added: “In whichever way you can help the community you should reach out and help. There are times that the smallest amount goes a long way to help society. Imagine all your life without a potable water. This is affecting students. People must see and reach out to people in need. Let’s show love. Touch a life and touch something because it goes a long way and reduces their stress.” Walewale is a small town and the capital of West Mamprusi district in the Northern region of Ghana. Walewale lies on the main road from Bolgatanga to Tamale, at the junction of the road to the village of Nakpanduri. The main event to hand over the borehole to the Wungu community is slated for Friday, April 8, 2015.
