Mum C (Paints Another Interesting Comic wisdom)
Amoafowaa Sefa Cecilia is the only Ghanaian whose poem appeared in Babishai's anthology for last year titled Boda Boda Anthem.
Her first anthology, Poetry Excursion on an African Mind, was chosen for study of Female Writers of Africa, a final year course at KNUST last semester.
She has over over 4,000 poems and her latest publication is a prose on Amazon titled Secondary Rythms yet to be published in hard copy.
Doped in euphemisms, Amoafowaa paints interesting pictures in comic wisdom, recounting how many kings go to hell and back to obtain the "favour" of a woman. This is a poem about the power women wield over men. Enjoy!
When Akosua-kuma calls
Even the most disciplined of famished cats
Cannot be a meat security
Neither can a hungry toothless dog
Resist the temptation of licking a fresh bone
Like cats, men sit in conundrum
When "Akosua-kuma" calls
II
Let lions roar
Signalling their return
Into dens they occupy
Minds intoxicated by "Akosua-kuma"
Will hear them as bells of pleasure
When "Akosua-kuma" calls
III
Kneelings are feelings
Beggings are lovings
Slappings are mappings
Bitings are yearnings
Insults are praises
Curses are blessings
Moaning is heaven
When "Akosua-kuma" calls
IV
Many walk into trouble
Like swimmers do pools
Many wear clothes of ridicule
As kings wear their crowns
Many cowards fight like dragon warriors
As many turn corpses
When "Akosua-kuma" calls
V
You deserve your Akosua name
God must be jealous of your congregations
Looking down from His universal stance
Seeing much pray
In temples of "Akosua-kuma"
With no regard for the town
Where time stands
VI
Akosua the powerful!
You little queens
Who move mountains!!!
Akosua the shockables
You little things!
Who surpass gods' gods
Akosua the movables!
You little things
Who brand gargantuans ashes in flight!
Akosua the addictables!
You with dark depths
Kings will ply muddy roads to descend on ascension!
Akosua Kuma!
Toffees hidden deep in hollowed caves!
You are the biggest religion of man!
