Northern Girl Initiative ''Paint My School Project'' at Baidul M/A Basic School

The derelict state of Baidul M/A Basic School caught their attention during the Northern Girl Initiative book distribution outreach program. 

They pledged to take action and behold their promise, there came back on 21st September (National Volunteer Day) to fulfill the promise thy made. These young energetic volunteers spent hours to refurbish Baidul M/A Basic school structure. 




The volunteer team was led by the Project Director DeLiman Yaro Ruka. Other volunteers present at the Paint of Our project were  Maccarthy Mac-Gbathy, Mash Codjoe , Mathew Ayong TheGodfather, Sherifa Awudu, Blessilla Nana-afoe Aya Kandoh, Geoffrey Buta, Hudu Abdul Rafiu, Nana Kyei, Amoafowaa Sefa Cecilia, Ibrahim Mustapha, Kola Nut, and many others


The future of our world is dependent on investing in the youth and creating an empowering environment for them to act towards achieving the universal sustainable development goals. Nonetheless, we also believe it is the responsibility of the youth to hold our authorities to task, to fight corruption, to push for accountability and in sum to help create a better world.- Northern Girl Initiative


The “Northern Girl” is a metaphor to depict the vision of what and how the next generation of girls and women from the Northern Region of Ghana should look like. Embedded in this vision is a trans-formative element that targets opportunities and outcomes for girls and women from the region. It also entails a vision of girls and women as agents of change, whose empowerment will enhance their well being and that of their households and the country at large



Sahada Alolo and Dr. Namawu Alolo conceived and developed the Northern Girl Initiative. Having experienced the desolation of poverty and transcended socio-cultural barriers while growing up in the Northern Region. 

The Northern Girl uses innovative channels to bridge key gender differences in Northern Region of Ghana. The initiative serves a catalyst to leverage opportunities for girls to scale new heights
