Bruce Jenner Becoming A Woman — Tells Kim, Khloe and Kourtney

On Dec. 1, Bruce invited the Kardashian girls to lunch to talk to them about his desires. “He felt it was time to be honest with the older girls and explain his desire to become more feminine,” a Jenner source told Star magazine.
Bruce left Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner out of the conversation because he thought they weren’t mature enough to understand the situation just yet. “He will tell them in his own way when the time is right,” the source explained.
The older girls were extremely supportive when he told them he “has never been happier than he is now, he is finally being true to himself.”

Caitlyn Jenner's debut Monday was met with a social media firestorm and bipartisan support.
Vanity Fair tweeted its latest cover Monday, starring the former Bruce Jenner, now Caitlyn. And upon posting her first Tweet, the former Olympian broke the Twitter Guinness-certified record, previously held by President Barack Obama, by acquiring over a million followers in a mere four hours.
It took Obama five hours to reach a million followers but he has no hard feelings, as the @BarackObama account, which is run by Obama for America, tweeted support for Jenner and hailed her bravery for sharing her story with the world.
The tweet also asked people to share their own stories in the fight for LGBT rights.
Obama's senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, one of Caitlyn's new Twitter followers, also tweeted words of encouragement. Jarrett is the Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls and has spoken out in support of banning "conversion" therapies that promise to cure gay and transgender people.
Just last month the White House issued a statement by Jarrett, who wrote that "The overwhelming scientific evidence demonstrates that conversion therapy, especially when it is practiced on young people, is neither medically nor ethically appropriate and can cause substantial harm," proclaiming the Obama administration's support for efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.
Openly gay Rep. Mark Takano, a Democrat from California, tweeted "The world loves you already."
And Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim ever elected to Congress, also expressed his support.
Jenner also received support from Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who has been outspoken about her support for her transgender son Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen. The Florida congresswoman, who is one of the most outspoken advocates for the LGBT community on Capitol Hill, invited Jenner to join her on the Hill.
Democratic Rep. Gwen Moore congratulated Jenner on her "Vanity Fair" cover and tweeted #YouDoYou.
In her groundbreaking interview with Diane Sawyer last month, before Bruce came out as Caitlyn, Jenner revealed that she is a Republican.
The Log Cabin Republicans, which is the largest Republican organization dedicated to representing the LGBT community, also welcomed Jenner.
Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee questioned Caitlyn's party affiliation, tweeting "Well is #CaitlynJenner a Republican too ?"
Cohen also retweeted a response from a follower, who wrote "What "Republican liberty" should Caitlyn support? The one where LGBTQ rights R marginalized & criminalized?"
Republican presidential candidate and former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, who once likened homosexuality to beastiality recently clarified comments he made about the then, Bruce Jenner, when he said "If he says he's a woman, then he's a woman. My responsibility as a human being is to love and accept everybody. Not to criticize people for who they are."
Santorum took to Facebook to clarify that while he affirms Jenner "as a person, made by God in His likeness," he is not suggesting any policy changes to accommodate transgender individuals, which would include bans on "conversion" therapy.
E!, the home of the family's reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," will air an eight-part series about Jenner's transition starting July 26.

Personal life

Jenner is a professed Christian, leans politically conservative, and is a Republican. Her first marriage was to Chrystie Scott (née Crownover) from 1972 to 1981. They have two children, son Burton and daughter Cassandra, known as Burt and Casey respectively. Jenner and Scott's divorce was finalized the first week of January 1981.The same week, on January 5, 1981, Jenner married her second wife, actress Linda Thompson, at the Oahu, Hawaii, home of film producer Allan Carr.By February 1986, Jenner and Thompson had separated, and they subsequently divorced.[58] Jenner and Thompson have two sons together, Brandon and Sam Brody, known as Brody. The two sons starred on the reality show The Princes of Malibu. Brody Jenner was also on the reality show The Hills.
Jenner's third marriage, to Kris Kardashian (née Houghton), occurred on April 21, 1991, after five months of dating. They have two daughters, Kendall and Kylie. As Bruce, Jenner was also the step-parent to Kris's four children from her previous marriage to the late lawyer Robert Kardashian: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob. The couple announced their separation in October 2013, though they had actually separated a year earlier.Kris filed for divorce in September 2014, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce terms were finalized in December 2014 and went into effect on March 23, 2015, due to a six-month state legal requirement.
In February 2015, Jenner was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. The accident caused one death and 8 injuries, but Jenner was able to walk away from the accident. The stepchildren of the deceased filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jenner in relation to the incident.

Gender transition

The Washington Post stated that Jenner's debut Vanity Fair cover, shot by Annie Leibovitz, had special significance for its subject: "After all the magazine covers that featured the former athlete, once lauded as the 'world’s greatest athlete,' the Leibovitz photograph will be the most meaningful. Looking directly at the camera, Jenner is finally herself for the first time publicly."
In an April 2015, 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, Jenner came out as a trans woman saying she had dealt with gender dysphoria since her youth, and that, for all intents and purposes, "I’m a woman." Jenner cross dressed for many years and began physically transitioning in the 1980s with hormone replacement therapy, but quit after meeting Kris Kardashian in the early 1990s. On June 1, 2015, she debuted her new name, Caitlyn, image, and the use of female pronouns officially. Her transition is also the subject of an eight-part documentary series that will premiere in July 2015. While she has undergone some cosmetic surgery as part of transitioning, she has not ruled out gender reassignment surgery, and feels life as a woman is primarily a matter of mental state and lifestyle. She said she has never been attracted to men and had exclusively been attracted to women before her transition, but currently identifies as asexual.
Jenner's announcement came at an unprecedented time for trans visibility, including legislative initiatives. The 20/20 interview had 20.7 million viewers, making it television's "highest-ever rated newsmagazine telecast among adults 18–49 and adults 25–54."The Daily Beast noted that, possibly because of Jenner's "honesty, his vulnerability, or his fame", she may have made "cheap jokes" about trans people—some examples of which aired during the show as part of the interview's educating the public on transphobia—"seem mean to a mainstream audience on an unprecedented scale."Using examples of how comedians had changed in their talking about Jenner's transition, The Daily Beast saw the change as the same evolution that took place in acceptance of LGBT people as a whole when "comedians finally cross the critical threshold from mockery to creativity in their joke-telling."

Prior to Jenner's 20/20 interview, a two-part special titled Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce was filmed with the family to answer questions and prepare the children for personal and public aspects of the transition. The episodes aired in May 2015 and emphasized a point made in the 20/20 prelude that there is no one right way to transition. Jenner made it a priority to ensure that all her children were independent first before focusing inward. Premiering the new "her", as Jenner referred to her emerging gender identity, was done with a photo spread, interview, and Vanity Fair cover shot by Annie Leibovitz, which was released by Jenner via Twitter. The Vanity Fair cover shot included the caption "Call me Caitlyn" and accompanied her new Twitter handle, @Caitlyn_Jenner, and the message, "I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me." She amassed over one million Twitter followers in just over four hours, setting a new Guinness World Record and surpassing Barack Obama, who, a month before, did the same feat in four and a half hours.
Jenner's first public appearance as Caitlyn will be receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award during the 2015 ESPY Awards in July 2015. She was given the award because "she has shown the courage to embrace a truth that had been hidden for years, and to embark on a journey that may not only give comfort to those facing similar circumstances, but can also help to educate people on the challenges that the transgender community faces
