October, A Month of suspensions & bans. Blatter & Nana Aba

On October 4th, TV3 issued a press release stating that their long-serving staff Nana Aba Anamoah has been ‘taken off air until further notice’. However Nana Aba has courted overwhelming public sympathy whilst her employers have been heavily criticized with many saying the decision was ‘very harsh'.
A statement signed by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Augustus Dickson on Saturday said: “After preliminary investigations internally, and in accordance with TV3’s own commitment to the highest level of professionalism, Management has decided to take Nana Aba Anamoah off air until further notice.” Nana Aba Anamoah trended on twitter for at least two consecutive days but for the wrong reason. She received avalanche of backlash for twitting an image that wasn't hers. She subsequently tweeted to apologise for her conduct: “My intention was not to steal someone’s pictures as mine. Absolutely not.” She followed with another: “Sorry to all who got offended by that joke. It was all meant to be an innocent prank.” Though apologetic, her employer thinks her attitude cannot go unpunished. Management felt her action dented the image of the institution. “As a broadcast network that prides itself in upholding high ethical standards and delivering credible and trustworthy content to its viewers, TV3 would like to assure viewers and other key stakeholders that it shall continue to take all necessary steps to maintain such standards,” the statement noted.
The broadcast journalist hopped on her favourite social networking site Twitter to thank her fans for supporting her in what she describes as ‘the most trying times of my professional life’. ‘But hey, my sincere thanks to you all for the support in the most trying time of my professional life. I am truly grateful,’ said the Diva’s Show host. As ever, Ghana’s Queen of Twitter was back in full force, cracking jokes here and there. Reacting to a tweet that Sepp Blatter has been banned from football activities, Nana Aba wrote: “Wow October. Month of suspensions and bans.”
Sepp Blatter was suspended on Thursday along with secretary general Jerome Valcke and vice-president Michel Platini. He is accused of signing a contract "unfavourable" to Fifa and making a "disloyal payment" to Platini. The ethics committee also opened an inquiry into Platini over the 2m euros (£1.35m) payment, which was made nine years after the 60-year-old Frenchman carried out consultation work for Blatter. Valcke was already on gardening leave from his Fifa post following newspaper allegations last month which implicated the 55-year-old in a scheme to profit from the sale of World Cup tickets. Valcke's lawyer said that his client was "confident" he will be fully cleared of the "false allegations" when "all the facts come out". Platini will contest the ban "in the appropriate manner at the appropriate time". All three deny any wrongdoing. Klaus Stohlker, Blatter's friend and adviser, said: "He has appealed already to Fifa's appeal committee. He is defending his position and he is sure that he will be found not guilty." However, some have questioned Blatter's desire to stay in charge. Former Football Association chairman David Bernstein told the BBC: "Blatter is a fool to himself to stay on for so long." African football confederation chief Issa Hayatou, Fifa's longest-serving vice-president, is heading the organisation in Blatter's enforced absence.
