10 Northern Revolutionary Songs of Peace and Unity

Artists have shown the courage to come forward and combat barbarianism and cruelty by spreading peace and harmony

Not only that, they have been part of revolutions against established societal norms, and also helped people realize the true importance of freedom with their strong lyrics.

Sanatu Zambang has compiled a list of 10 revolutionary songs which were produced and features Northern Ghana Musicians in an attempt to unite people, and to bring worldwide peace.

Children of Abraham.......  The voice of Grammy® nominated Ghanaian Reggae singer, Rocky Dawuni has an element of peace. The song message is clear and simple, Children of Abraham put your weapons down..you are separate branches of the same great tree. "Children of Abraham" is about recognizing shared destiny and choosing the path to peace over any path to war. "It was motivated by my trip to Israel and Palestine," notes Rocky, "that moved me deeply and led me to think hopefully about the possibilities of peace and coexistence. My interaction with the people, and visits to mosques, churches and synagogues inspired the track."

Africa …… Love the lyrics; the song celebrates the rhythms of Africa unity in a Northern Ghanaian language ‘’ Sisala ‘’ absolutely beautiful to listen to. Wiyaala is another extraordinary young woman storming the world of African music with mesmerizing vocal energy and spectacular stage performance.

NANGBAN YINI …….. “This is such an iconic and powerful peaceful song, it gives goosebumps every time.” This is a beautiful song that speaks of the might and power of God, and what will be the faith of mankind without God. It preaches unity among the living, a ‘brotherhood of man’ and gives me hope that peace is possible.” This song features Sirina Isaah, Shariff Ghale, Lord Wunpini, Kawastone, Lil Malik, Big Adams, and  Flexx.

Ti Bom Suhudoo…………I love the passion behind this song. The team worked through tremendous challenges looking at their geographical locations and time schedule. The lyrics is heart melting and chorus on point. This song features Sharifa Gunu, Blakk Rasta, Shariff Ghale, Lord Wunpini, and Abu Muhammed.

Dagbon All Stars Peace………….This is a lovely song that speaks of a world filled with love, hope and possibility…listening to either version makes me believe that peace is possible…and that we truly are living in a wonderful world. This song features Janda, Lord Okla, Menunatu Ladi, George Cliff, Lil Malik, Ahmen Adam, Abada, and Abu Sadiq.

Wicked Leaders………………. We are told we deserve the leaders we get. I love this song for its passion and authenticity. King Ayisoba sends out his message loud and clear and adds a little humor.

ONE AFRICA……. This song has a captivating message, both in English and Dagbani. One would expect nothing but the use of ghetto lyrics as a tool of preaching peace to Africa. especially the part where Nazz says '' and if we dont love each other, who do we want to love '' and Fizz rap lines that says '' drop the ego and be the hero by making peace.'' '' the politicians are using people and loving power ''

So Bimi………. We like both the sound and message of this song and artists. The lyrics of Preachaman, combined with Blakk Rasta voice, make an appealing impact on the soul. Despite being sung in the Northern dialect, one does not need to think nor look deep to get the message. "Darkness does not drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate does not drive out hate, only love can do that." This is a famous Martin Luther King Jr. quote and is what this song refers to.

Elections. .............. Gladstone fused about six (6) indigenous languages into the peace song ( Twi, Ewe, Dagbani, Fafra, Wala and Ga) and these languages are peculiar to the flash points identified for this year’s election. The lyrics and meaning are simple: wherever or whoever you are. Plus it conjures the idea and perception of the police being our friendly neighborhood protectors and not our enemies

Peaceful Elections………. Network Lagfu, a young energetic musician from Tamale Ghana, the youth have taken the lead to champion and preach peace. In recent times the youth have been victims of political violence, politicians insight them to embark on violent activities. His song sends a clear cut message to the youth to be responsible and not involve themselves in political violence
