Hopin Academy kick starts its 2016 Entrepreneurship Incubator
Hopin
Academy is a for-profit educational organization based in Tamale, Ghana that is
open to anyone. Hopin Academy derives
its name from its educational philosophy as a school designed for students to
“hop in and hop out," rather than having strictly organized timetable
structures.
Hopin
Academy has kick started its 2016 Entrepreneurship Incubator, this year’s
program is set to be an outstanding one. Saturday 17th December 2016, Hopin Academy
incubator students held their first entrepreneurship presentation and pitching.
The event was facilitated by McCarthy, Emmanuel, Selorm, Mawusi and Abdul Raafi
Mohammed. The judges were Miss Paulina and Miss Laura.
The Hopin Academy School has established an
international academic partnership with Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College
through the BiCo-Dalun Summer Action Research Fellowship, a learning program
fostered in 2010 where Bryn Mawr and Haverford students create community
projects with Ghanaian partners.
The incubator
students experienced their first pitching of idea and presentation session. This
year’s students had interesting entrepreneurship ideas. Yakubu Fusseini Nayi, a
graduate holder of HND marketing at Tamale Polytechnic, his idea is Chicken egg and sheep production.
The
purpose for this idea is to produce chicken eggs and sheep products to satisfy
the growing demand for chicken eggs and sheep products in my region and beyond.
Abdulai
Fairuza idea is to farming Rice &
Maize. She said ‘’I always aim at being a great time entrepreneur in Agric
activities to wipe away the tears of senior High school pupil who always have
to be on break just because of shortage of food. I will involve myself in the
farming of rice and maize which are the basic food that boarding students
depend on during their dining periods ‘’.
Ebennzer
Asare, idea is to establishment of community savings and Investment Company. The
purpose for this establishment is to build the capacity of people in terms of
financial savings and investment. It has been my idea to help people realize
their aim.
Mariam
Mac-Gbathy a student of Tamale, University of Development Studies. Mariam idea is to produce shirts with
African print and Slippers with beads.
Matthew
& MacCarthy idea is to create a Computer
Software. The purpose of this idea is to create simple, fast and easy to use
computer shortcuts for both beginners and so on.
Patricia Morrison
a 3rd year student, of the University for Development Studies Tamale, Patricia
idea is to produce a local beverage locally known as Sobolo.
Mercy Sakiokor
Hammond idea is to produce Jewellery
with both Beads and Soft metals. The purpose of this idea is to make bracelets,
fixings damaged beaded jewelries and cloths handbags etc See More students and their ideas on the Hopin Academy Website.
Day in, day
out people have developed ideas, people have thought of ideas but how do they
design it, how to they develop the idea out of their brains. Others have begun
working on their ideas but they stuck because they are short of ways and means
to go about their business.
This is an
opportunity emerging entrepreneurs should grab.
