'' Music is a Gift from God '' - Ras Badingu

Music in the northern regions of Ghana has been in constant move since time, but in the last 12 months the regions in the north of Ghana has seen tremendous growth and attention worldwide.

The trends has always been RNB, HIP POP AND HIGH LIFE, but Reggae music seem to be taking its stand in the Savannah regions and Ras Badingu comes to mind when reggae music is been discussed in these regions.






Born into a small beautiful family with 4 siblings, Badingu was born in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana but grew up in Wechaiu in the Upper West Region. With the music passion flowing through his veins, Badingu has a handsome young son and a beautiful wife.




Having attended wechaiu basic school and was a key member in the school drama activities, the emerging reggae sensational also attended upper west senior high technical school.

After 8years of professional music, Badingu describes his music as ‘’ I do music cause music is in me since childhood,and it is a gift God has giving to me,so i do it to entertain and to educate’’.



With the biggest challenge being financial problems, Badingu has one album and three album collaborations with fellow artiste in upper west, and close to 30 songs to his credit.





Drawing inspiration from Tiken Jah farkoly and Amandzeba Nat Brew, with influences from Tiken Jah Fakoly,  Bob Marley, Jah Cure, john legend, shaha Marley,osibisa and salif keita.




Badingu has collaborated with Amandzeba Nat Brew, Abu Sadiq, Imoru Ayaana, Sabogu, A.A.konkor, Young Ghally, Gamebwoy, kawutey, Back2 and Abiona from Jamaica.




Determination is key and Badingu has it all, with the right management, 2017 should be a successful music year for the upper west music genius.
