CHRAJ caution Tamale Mayor, “ Sex workers have rights “

Tamale Metropolitan Assembly are on the countdown to arrest and fined all sex workers if caught. The Tamale mayor believes that this is part of the steps to make the promising city clean and just. Brothels in the city has been demolished










However some sex workers are on the move to leave the city, as they are aware of the strict and discipline nature of the mayor. In less than 10 months, the mayor has been able to clear the hawking on main streets of the metropolis, arrest wee and drugs users in the near by forests.

Speaking to DW radio, the mayor said “ Sex trade is illegal, we don’t want prostitution in Tamale, on my watch, I will come down on those involved and engaged in sex trade ”

Wunpini F Mohammed, a practising feminist has a different view, she believes that arresting sex workers and not arresting those flinging for the service seem to be unfair. She said “

Caroline Okuana, a sex worker told DW radio she’s scared and ready to leave the city because business has been close down.

The commission of human right and administrative justice ( CHRAJ) made caution the mayor to trade carefully on the matter has these sex workers also have rights
