“The Music Industry Is Not Fair To Female Artistes” – Diva1

Have you noticed that the fame of most of  the female artistes in in the northern music industry is  short-lived? What can possibly account for this? Are they not that talented? Are they lazy? What makes their stay in the industry a nine day wonder?

Diva1, one of the most vibrant and visible female Artiste in the Northern region in an interview with sanatuzambang.com lamented bitterly how difficult it is to survive as a female artiste.

As part of the many reasons she gave to buttress her assertion was that the male artistes are giving more attention by industry players than the female artistes: their songs are played more on air and most of them are signed to Record Labels and that isn’t so for the females. “The industry is not fair to the female artistes” – she said

Don’t you think the female artistes are lazy?

In response this question, she said “I’m not lazy, I don’t know about the other female artistes. “I happen to be the only female artiste on most of the platforms I have performed on”.  She revealed that she has performed for free in most of the shows she has been on. The industry concentrates more on the male artistes -she lamented

“They should pray for me coz I’m not gonna end up some of them” – she said when asked to comment on the fact that most of the female artistes in the North becomes “quiet” after a short while. Evidently, the likes of Princess Basat, Mzkenzy, etc became “quiet” after a short while. She believes most of them  lose their impact in the music industry when they get married suggesting that their husbands are not supportive of their music careers. Diva1 will only consider marrying a man who will support and encourage her music career. She also believes she’s still gonna be doing music and performing on stage even when she is grey- that’s in her old age.

What is your take on this? Is the industry bias? Is the music industry more supportive of the male artistes than their female counterparts?

Diva1 is set to release her latest single on Saturday, 11 of November, 2017.
