A Message To The Musicians In My Locality " Northern Ghana "

In this 21 century, things are going digital, education is now the key regardless of the career you choose. Many think aspiring to be a musician means no or little education, my dear friends if you want to succeed in the music industry, you either school, or home school. Read lots of books, make research, study the art of music. I can boldly say some musicians in my locality don't even know the kind of music they are doing. When you listen do their interviews on Radio and Tv, you will realise they know little about what they are doing. If the interview happen to be in English language, you can't help but close your ears. If you know you are larking something you either work hard to get it or manage it, learn to improve on it, don't just sit and do absolutely nothing. It's never too late to go back and learn.
Music is poetry, music is like bullet, when it hits you, you will feel it, music is like light, it travels faster regardless of the language, culture, skin colour or origin. You don't have to hype good music, it sells itself. Music finds it way to the people and conquer their hearts, soul and mind. You don't measure a musician by the number of Tv or Radio interviews the musician gets, but we measure a musician by the number of CDs you sell, the number of national and international record hits he/she produces, the number of views and followers he/she gets on YouTube and Twitter, the number of national and international music tours he/she is making or has made, and lastly the number of national and international nominations, recognition and awards he/she gets. So tell me among these musicians whom have achieved national and international success. Even with likes of Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Manifest, FuseOdg etc. Rocky Dawuni is the first Ghanaian to be nominated for Grammys. So I ask, Is Rocky Dawuni not from Northern Region? Did they nominated Rocky Dawuni, because he was interviewed on TV or Radio? Did Rocky Dawuni friends and family hype his music for him to get this international recognition?
Despite their success or trails they found a way of educating themselves before, during and after their huge musical success. These musical icons do lots of reading, poetry, writing, research etc. So anytime they come out with a song, it's lyrically matured and edible, mind blowing beats, rhymes, and sounds and lastly artistic videos and beautiful picture quality. I hope and pray musicians in my locality will do same and study music carefully for music is not just beats and rhymes but art and poetry. American hip hop icon Lil Wayne enrolled at the University of Houston in January 2005. He dropped out in the same year due to his conflicting schedule.[147] He also revealed on The View that he switched to the University of Phoenix and majored in psychology taking online courses. An article in Urb magazine in March 2007 asserted that Wayne had been earning high grades at Houston.

After graduating from high school, Kanye West received a scholarship to attend Chicago's American Academy of Art in 1997 and began taking painting classes, but shortly after transferred to Chicago State University to study English. He soon realized that his busy class schedule was detrimental to his musical work, and at 20 he dropped out of college to pursue his musical dreams.
Rihanna attended Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School and Combermere High School, where she studied alongside future England cricketer Chris Jordan and future West Indies cricketer Kraigg Brathwaite. Rihanna was an army cadet in a sub-military programme; the singer-songwriter Shontelle was her drill sergeant. Although she initially wanted to graduate from high school, she chose to pursue a musical career instead. Bieber attended a French-language immersion elementary school in Stratford, the Jeanne Sauvé Catholic School. Growing up, he learned to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. He graduated from high school in Stratford, Ontario, the St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in 2012, Bieber mother posted a video Bieber performance on YouTube for their family and friends to see. While searching for videos of a different singer, Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def Recordings, clicked on one of Bieber's 2007 videos by accident. Impressed, Braun tracked down the theatre Bieber. Justin Bieber was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Braun and Usher.Justin Timberlake was also reportedly in the running to sign Bieber but lost the bidding war to Usher.
