I wish to acknowledge that as a environmentalists I never knew nor heard of Suzy Amin Cameron Red Carpet Green Dress, it's came to my notice when I did my usual visit to Samata Facebook page and website and I deemed it necessary to praise this movement for a fantastic job done since its inception. Samata, is a British-born Ghanaian fashion designer, author and journalist. Best known for her fashion journalism with the Guardian, Vogue, Suzy Amis Cameron's Red Carpet Green Dress campaign and as a womenswear designer, her work has been covered by BBC Radio 1Xtra, Essence, ITV's This Morning and Red Magazine.i admire her courage and works, she is the beaming light of African Fashion I must say.
Suzy Amis Cameron, environmental activist and wife of director James Cameron, launched the campaign seven years ago during a press tour for “Avatar.” According to the organization’s website, the goal was to “draw attention to the importance of more sustainable practices in fashion.” Celebrities supporting the campaign want to show their fans at home that their dresses can not only be beautiful, but good for the environment as well.
Oscar red carpet is undisputedly the world’s most watched red carpet with stars donning luxurious gowns, glittering sequins and daring necklines. Celebrities love endorsing the cause they believe in and this year 2016 Oscars, Lily Cole and Sophie Turner did it in style. Both actresses picked up Vivienne Westwood gown made completely out of recycled plastic bottles and actually both made quite a statement. It’s not really easy to pull off such a look, especially on the red carpet.
When the ­​Red Carpet Green Dress, sponsored by Earth Friendly Products, confirmed acclaimed actress Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, X Men Apocalypse), and actress Lily Cole (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Snow White and the Huntsman, The Zero Theorem) to walk the red carpet at the 88th Annual Academy Awards in support of the seventh year of Suzy Amis Cameron’s eco fashion campaign. Supported by global fashion brand Vivienne Westwood, Lily Cole will be wearing a couture gown designed by the fashion house, Sophie Turner will be wearing an ethically made gown from Galvan seem impossible for many with less knowledge about Suzy Amis Cameron’s eco fashion campaign
About Red Carpet Green Dress: Red Carpet Green Dress is an internationally recognized organization that combines the worlds of fashion and sustainability. Currently in its seventh year, the campaign was conceived by Suzy Amis Cameron during the press tour for husband James Cameron’s film Avatar. Her hope was to draw attention to the importance of more sustainable practices in fashion. It challenges designers from around the world to think about fashion in an eco friendly platform. The campaign also raises funds for MUSE School CA, a non­ profit educational organization that Amis Cameron co­founded in Malibu Canyon.
