South Africa Mzee & Rafiki Timhamba (Ancestral Rituals) Album

After more than 3 years of recording in more than 10 countries with more than 30 musicians, Mzee & Rafiki are ready to drop their most anticipated Pan-African tribal house album titled Timhamba (Ancestral Rituals).











Mzee is described by many as the man who brought classic Mahuwelele and the club anthems like Zvinosiririsa and Umoja, Mzee is back with a bang with a brand new album after more than 5 years away from the music industry. This time around, Mzee introduces Rafiki - a Swahili word for friends - his old time collaborator Gorden "DJ Godheaven" Netshikweta and Julius "Juju" Dlamini, a renown pianist, as his new collaborators and comrades in arms.

Mzee & Rafiki, are best known as the South African Ancestral and tribal kings Their album Pan-African studio album titled Timhamba (Ancestral Rituals) is a masterpiece of collaborations. The album features the likes of Mansa of Mali, the legendary Salif Keita, Aly Faque, who is hailed as the voice of Mozambique, Ali Yurttas, a Muslim spiritual singer from Turkey, Kashivi Andre, an elderly Khoisan singer from South Africa, Wiyaala, from Ghana. The album also feature artists like Phuzekhemisi, who is the doyen of Maskandi music in South Africa, Suthukazi Arosi, another veteran and African soul singer from South Africa, Brenda Mtambo, a former member of the award winning gospel group, Joyous Celebration in South Africa, Kunle Ayo, a Nigerian jazz musician, Bholoja, the amazing voice of Swaziland.

DJ Godheaven has been with Mzee for years, a member of The A Team, a group of up and coming young producers at Bomba Records, Mzee's record label, and also his protégés while Juju has been playing piano for the award winning South African afropop group, Malaika. Mzee and Rafiki have been hard at work at Mahuwelele Studios in Johannesburg over the past three years cooking up this new album.
