SAMINI Tamale Sallah Rock Is Tonight Despite False Reports

The much anticipated Tamale Sallah Rock, lead by Ghana sensational dancehall artiste Samini had Kaakie , Jupiter and Kofi Kinaata etc, scheduled on Sunday, September 11, 2016 had been cancelled. Sighting alleged Gunshots in some parts of Tamale. Unfortunately for the organizer’s, they never bothered to find out the traditional events that takes place before, during and after  every Sallah (Eid Adha) or Festival celebration in the Northern Region Capital.


The Show will be happening Tonight, 12 September 2016, in a tweet by the newly named King of Music (YILA NAA) SAMINI, they are still in Tamale and the show is happening this night.

During festive celebrations, be it Eid or traditional, the Sapashini men also known as the bodyguard of the chiefs usually fire gunshots on the eve of Eid celebrations to notify the people that indeed the next day is Sallah day. Firing of the gunshots is a sign or signal, to signify the commencement of a festival, the sighting of a new moon or the death of an important native of the land.



The likes of Zola  Annual Street Carnival organized by Zolahood, Zogbeli and Lamakara which has been jointly named as Zolahood by the youth in these two areas. Maccasio will be headlining this year Zola Street Carnival on Sallah day. The street carnival will see the likes of Tuba Zaks, Deensi, Gaffachi, Chogu Boys and many more




The annual Wasati Street Carnival, the name ‘Wasati’ was carved from the abbreviation of three suburbs of Tamale; Ward K, Salamba and Tishegu by the youth of the three suburbs. According to the YIRIFA, This year’s edition of the annual Wasati Street Carnival will see music rivals Don Sigli and Lil K perform on the same platform, one of the rear times the two music heavyweights in the Northern region will be performing on the same platform.Dream Time Records Rappers, SKY de Tamale boy and Double Tee, silky singer, Basat and the ‘Baansi Bulchini’,  Destro are among a long list of artists who will be performing at the street carnival.



These entire artistes are big names in the metropolis and looking at the economy they can’t go for a show on the eve of sallah, return home the next morning and begin to prepare for the Zolahood and Wasati streets carnivals. Besides remember on the day of Eid, they will also have to wake up early to prepare and go for the congregational prayers. After which, paying of visits to family and friends. Distribution of food and drinks to family and friends as well.




In my opinion the event didn’t have a proper planning and organization, the Tv, Radio and Online promotion was dull and not catchy, besides during every Sallah celebration major areas in the Northern Region Capital also have Sallah parties and festivals.





So the calling off should not be because of the alleged gunshots in the metropolis but rather, unplanned, disorganized event by the organizer’s, I hope they next time do their research and analysis before scheduling an event anywhere.  An apology from the High Grade family and the organizers to the Tamale people will be deemed appropriate, that’s in my opinion.
