The Minority Show; ''A NEED FOR A CULTURAL DIVERSITY''

Image
Story by Rahama Zakaria Tweet @rahamatulahi Cultural diversity has become an important issue that we need to discuss as a nation to help in peace and nation building. Migration has made it possible to have a multicultural society. Living in a multicultural society means, we need to understand the different cultures and not try to dictate our beliefs on another person of different cultural background. No single culture has the monopoly on dictating the absolute standard for behavior. It is deadly dangerous not to understand the concept of cultural difference. Most wars are fought over the premise that, one culture is better than another. Understanding and respecting cultural difference disallows violence predicated on cultural differences. Genie Films brought together seven women to discuss cultural diversity and how we can achieve a society where people are not ashamed for belonging to one ethnic group or race. In this discussion, there was the understanding that we are ...

”Honour Our Mad Dr”; The story of Dr David Abdulai

Image
Across the globe, heroes are remembered for their tireless and selfless efforts because of their positive contributions towards the development of a country, be it in the field of economics, social or political. They are also remembered by future generations by having them named after an institution or a government project. The nation has witnessed the renaming of projects and institutions after selfless citizens from past and current governments. I believe this to be very commendable and should be a continuous process that shouldn’t come to a halt anytime soon until Tamale’s own Dr Abdulai Choggu gets named as well. I have had this in mind since the demise of our beloved Dr and philanthropist. Whose services to society can’t be measured in anyway both in kind and in cash. To many, there won’t be any need to spell out a long profile of Dr Abdulai choggu as an introduction or a way of awakening people’s mind of who he was. A medical doctor by profession he was but, whose env...

Image
Story by Rahama Zakaria Edited by Zakaria Abdul Hakim Cisse The interim chairman of Alliance for Northern Entertainers (ANE) has debunked the notion held by many that the association is made up of only Fancy Gadam fans and it is there to fight for only the ‘Concrete’ hit maker. Speaking to Sanatu Zambang Magazine, the ICT entrepreneur lamented on the prejudice mind that people in our society have about entertainers and that is why the association was formed, to fight for the right of all art players in the town, be it a musician, actor, actress, producers, music engineers, media personnel or anybody whose work is related to the entertainment industry in the region. ‘’ People see everyone in the entertainment industry to be some bunch of useless people, school dropout simply because they see them to be working on their own and we don’t seem to have a united front, so alliance for northern entertainers, is providing that particular platform where it will address all that ...

On the eve of the show, an accident occurred between a Zylofone van and an articulator track resulting in the death of six and two of the deceased were found out to be Fancy Gadam fans because they were wearing shirts with Fancy image on it. Without verifying or waiting for the police report on the cause of the accident, the mayor of Tamale, Musah Superior, went on rampage on radio to accuse Fancy Gadam because he believe it  was a float that cause the accident when in actual fact it was not the case. It was unfortunate coming from someone in authority like his caliber asking a rhetorical question suggesting Fancy Gadam is using his fans blood to make it in music and down playing the hard work this young chap who is using his music to give people the chance to know that, there are talents in the...
